Beyond The Rubicon unleashes electrifying new single ‘Awakening 1’

Listen Here – Out Now!

Get ready to crank up the volume as Beyond The Rubicon, the dynamic duo formerly known as The Rubicon, drops their highly anticipated single ‘Awakening 1‘. This three-song EP is a bold statement of resilience, melody, and raw emotion, blending the infectious energy of pop, the soulful grit of Americana, and the unapologetic drive of rock.

Awakening 1 kicks off a trilogy of EPs, with two more set to follow in August and October, delivering a total of 11 meticulously crafted tracks. The band, composed of Paul Griggs (UK) and Paul Mahieu (Netherlands), made the strategic choice to release their work in three parts to build momentum and keep fans hungry for more. Recorded at 6Db Studios in York, UK, under the expert production and mixing of Dave Boothroyd, with mastering by Sam Proctor and drumming by Joe Montague, this EP is a testament to the duo’s creative evolution over six months of intense collaboration.

The EP’s lead track, Backfire, is a modern-day anthem of defiance, channeling the spirit of “I Will Survive” with a blistering rock edge. A World Like This radiates positivity and good vibes, offering a feel-good escape with its uplifting melodies. Closing the set, Lonely Days Lonely Nights dives deep into the emotional weight of surviving loss, tackling the impact of suicide with haunting sincerity. This diverse trio of songs showcases Beyond The Rubicon’s signature mix of genres, lush harmonies, and intricate instrumentation, including electric and acoustic guitars, bass, and the occasional ebow flourish.

Formed after a chance meeting at a party in 2023, Paul Griggs and Paul Mahieu have been pouring their hearts into their music, previously releasing an album in 2024 under the name The Rubicon. Despite critical praise for their songwriting, described as “the best of the best,” the album struggled to break through Spotify’s crowded landscape. Rebranded as Beyond The Rubicon to stand out among other bands with similar names, the duo is back with renewed fire. Their new songs are already generating buzz on social media, proving they’re ready to cross the success line this time around.
