Black Sands drops showstopping debut ‘The Hardest Pill To Swallow

A dark, dynamic and electric offering, ‘The Hardest Pill Swallow’ is a unique fusion of genres forged by a new force that is ‘Black Sands‘. The smooth R&B vocal is partnered with a driving alt-rock beat, swirling synthesisers and escalating piano melodies, all delivered in an alt-pop packaging. Mixed by Nick Rad who has worked with Mister Wives, Skillet and Krewella amongst other notable names, this is a song with unwavering momentum.

Discussing the release, Black Sands says: “After not writing music for 8 years, I finally found the inspiration and motivation for Black Sands. The idea came from blending inspirations from the major phases of my life: the rock n’ roll that shaped my years as a touring musician, my time in the entertainment industry, experiencing how a cinematic score can shift the mood, and becoming a fan of pop music that has the power to move you. I’ve learned the power of collaboration across industries, backgrounds, countries and sounds –how it can unlock something new and unexpected in the music. I wanted Black Sands to be this meeting point where contrasting ideas crash together to create something new, yet familiar.”

Black Sands is influenced by rock bands such as Nine Inch Nails, as well as modern pop artists including The Weeknd and Post Malone. Partnering these two genres is not an obvious combination, but Black Sands effortlessly creates unity between a variety of elements, appealing to fans from all genres in the process. ‘The Hardest Pill To Swallow’ is the debut single from Black Sands’ upcoming project, a record worth keeping an ear out for.
