Hertfordshire-hailing singer-songwriter Blake Baker has been guided by the sounds of Paolo Nutini and Sam Fender, crafting a unique, easy-listening atmosphere in his music. The timeless product has amassed hundreds of thousands of YouTube views and led to a performance at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. All since his 2020 debut.
With a strong and rich lead vocal taking stage, his latest track ‘A Maybe Mind’ is decorated with gorgeous acoustic guitar rhythms, warming horn sections and funk-fuelled electric guitar. The energy is irresistible, but it explores deeper themes of emotional turbulence and mental health. There’s a sense of catharsis from start to finish, releasing the peace of a dream through heartfelt and raw delivery.
Blake dives into the single, sharing, “’A Maybe Mind’ is a bold anthem that delves into themes of OCD, anxiety, and indecision. Driven by dynamic rhythms, infectious grooves, and vibrant horn sections, the track pairs an energetic, catchy soundscape with deeply personal and thought-provoking lyrics. The track’s origin is interesting. I actually heard the chord progression in a dream! Waking up at 3am, I quickly rushed to my guitar to work out the chords, and subsequently added lyrics focused on the theme of being imprisoned in your own thought cycles though OCD and anxiety, which resonated with me, and hopefully will with others too.”
