Blake returns with an immersive new album “Plainsongs”

Blake was signed to London-based label Echto Music with his psychedelic rock outfit Karma Truffle, who had the opportunity to previously share the bill with the Arctic Monkeys. With an abundance of music industry experience, Blake moved on to embrace a solo career that has given him a platform for his irresistible Lo-Fi, DIY recordings. Now signed to Subjangle, his track “Vinyl Junkie” has appeared on the soundtrack to the 2019 Brit crime film, “24 Hours to Live or Die”.

Blake is returning with an immersive new album entitled “Plainsongs.” Merging classic rock influences with contemporary sounds, the album honours the psychedelic rock of The Beatles and the alternative elements of The Velvet Underground. Despite the album’s huge sound, it does provide us with elements of vulnerability. The likes of “Rainbow’s End” will be sure to pull you in with it’s stripped back instrumentation and heartwarming vocals. Blake clearly stamps his own musical mark on the record and it’s the perfect introduction to his music if you’ve never heard it before.

On the album, Blake says “I wanted to record this L.P. on analogue tape without endless overdubs, like the recordings of the sixties, hence the title, ‘Plainsongs’. The aim was to capture the energy of the songs that I had been performing live with my band before we came into the studio. Musically and lyrically, the songs reflect the influences of the pre-digital era, too.”

We, for one, cannot wait to see where he’ll take this.
