Trees is the new singer from LA based singer-songwriter and actor Blu Jay, who continues to grow from strength to strength with each release. A sure sign of growing confidence is the need to experiment, and there are certainly new elements in trees that differ from previous releases.
The Alt-Pop artist lies somewhere between Billie Eilish and Mazzy Star, with maybe a hint of Charlie XCX in there with the experimental shifts in tempo throughout the track. While it is a traditional post-break up song lyrically, it does feel as though it holds a depth that can only be realised by those who have experienced loss, or pain, or both. One has to respect when someone pours their heart and soul into something.
