Blue w3rD defies trend and categorisation with ‘Gods Amongst Men’

Philadelphia’s Blue w3rD is an aboriginal, eccentric artist with a professed multi-dimensional focus. Untethered by genre, but bringing knowledge from afrobeats and hip-hop, each release is a journey within itself, pushing boundaries and capturing new musical ideas. Sharing stages with Flatbush Zombies, Flying Lotus, and A$AP ANT, his free-flowing foundations are gaining traction.

With Gods Amongst Men, a new EP, Blue w3rD delivers something truly enticing. The alluring thematic and sonic journey that the audience is taken on is spiritual. Nine tracks do not shy away from instrumentation experimentation, commanding unconventional beats and echoing the style of André 3000.

That’s not to deny Blue his flowers, this is something unique, artistic and impassioned with the talent to boot. The sampling is perfect, with soulful tones and sweeping strings alongside the punchy flow, a dichotomy that is undeniably impressive to hold.

“‘Gods Amongst Men’ brings supreme lyricism and sample-driven instrumentation. To me, this is fine art: hip-hop and spirit rap, blending the essence of street knowledge and spirituality to present an exploration expressed through beats and rhymes.

Within the project, each song is married to an art piece with song lyrics in the form of a digital album magazine. All of the art was made by me, with the beats courtesy of Kayin”.
