Bonk! showcase unique debut EP ‘The Act Of Doing It’

Boasting an extraordinary sound that refuses to be boxed in, Bonk! have showcased a ceaseless pursuit of the unique. Quickly establishing a following in the Northern music scene, the band saw early support from BBC Introducing Merseyside and Amazing Radio. Taking their sound live, the quartet graced stages of Liverpool’s Official Eurovision Showcase the official afterparty for the Liverpool International Jazz Festival, and the official after party for ‘The Comet Is Coming’ show.

Bonk!’s most recent release is their debut EP, ‘The Act Of Doing It’, crafting vast and unpredictable psychedelic landscapes, the group stand of a knife edge of the unknown, pulling the most experimental elements of funk, rock and jazz and injecting them into infectious intensity. There’s a dynamic freedom to it all, maintaining an off-the-cuff feel with music that is so clearly intricately arranged and brimming with performative talent. Outlandish yet undeniably charming, the four-track is unlike anything else.

The band explain, “These tracks are, I think, the best representation of the last two years of Bonk! And the whole point of the EP was to bookend that chapter as a band.

We recorded the EP live. So much of who we are as a band comes from playing live music and we wanted it to reflect that. All the main parts were recorded at the same time, in the same room by yours truly. We think our music sounds better when there’s a good chance we could mess it up at any given moment.”
