British alternative rapper Jung Mergs releases ‘Revenge’ music video

Coming on the back of strong support in the past few months, from the likes of Complex, Trench Magazine, Mixtape Madness, No Signal, Reprezent Radio, Jamz Supernova’s Selector Radio and Rinse FM among others, East London alternative rap artist and producer Jung Mergs is excited to reveal the music video for his latest single ‘Revenge’, as part of his well-received ‘Everyone Talks About The Good, Never The Bad’ 3-part series, which is set to come to a head, with the release of his next single ‘Control’ later this autumn.

Directed by Matthew Kinani and Sereeta Venkanah, who have previously worked with the likes of Kano, Kojo Funds, Ms Banks, and Hardy Caprio, and graded by Simon Aukes Stolland (Krept & Konan, D-Block Europe, Blue Story), the video for ‘Revenge’ brings the track and its themes of revenge, non-conformity and rebellion further to life, with Jung Mergs visually exploring how feelings of revenge and anger can often play out in your mind, and how these feelings, which often come with negative connotations, can be channelled towards conquering anything in your way or holding you back.

Speaking about the inspiration for ‘Revenge’, Jung Mergs says, “The track was inspired by the feeling of being overlooked by people around you and fear as a mind-state. I wanted to show what it felt like to rebel against and take revenge on these feelings and situations. The track speaks to me of being sick of playing life by preconceived rules and wanting to cut through all of its noise. The video for ‘Revenge’ follows in the same vein, with me trying to get my subconscious to embrace these feelings of revenge, anger and non-conformity that society often tells us to shy away from”.
