Taken from their forthcoming EP, ‘Hey It’s Me’ is the latest single from High Wycombe-based outfit Broken Colours. Revisiting their trademark indie sound, the single looks to re-cement the band as exciting, fast-rising indie heroes, their first release since ‘Not Giving In’ in early 2024.
Complete with riotous, melodic guitar riffs, ‘Hey It’s Me’ arrives at the ears of the listener with power and finesse. Coupling together the driving nature of noughties indie, the release sees the band take sonic cues from the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Interpol as they unleash their colourful, magnetic stomp. Despite its roaring, indie-rock tendencies, the track additionally takes on a deeper meaning. Penned about the importance of mental health, the single shines a light on the day-to-day issues that it brings whilst beaming a powerful message of resilience and empowerment onto those who speak out.
Commenting on the release, the band dives in, “This song is about that negative side of you, that voice inside your head, which is supposed to be your anxiety, touching on Mental Health challenges. We wanted a truly authentic sound when recording this track, almost a bit like the Rolling Stones.”
