Cam Cole has released a whole new brand of destruction with his latest heavy rock classic of an album ‘Crooked Hill’. The London based busker made a name for himself through hard work and a DIY approach, an approach which certainly hasn’t wavered when listening to this 11 track journey. Being renowned as a one man band in a live aspect, you can definitely hear the re-creation of this through the recordings, which is testament to Cam’s work ethic. Think Royal Blood, but better.
A personal highlight is the closing track ‘Message in the Mountains’, which is an epic build up track that switches so drastically between verse and chorus and keeps you hooked throughout. It’s heavy grunge guitar lines and an almost westernised feel through Cam’s vocals, feeling like you’re right there with him from his earlier days. It’s clear that Cam Cole has taken much bigger strides now, and ‘Crooked Hill’ looks to be a massive statement record from this relentless artist that we’re sure you’ll be seeing around very soon.
