Cat Lundy Cuts Deep with ‘Scars’

Cat Lundy has released her newest track: Scars, and it doesn’t fail to impress. Clearly a voice like Cat’s would make any song sound good, but there is something different about this particular release. Like a new vintage car, it just sounds classic.

Inspired by the greats that came before her, Cat Lundy takes influence from the likes of Lana Del Rey, Adele and even a tinge of the late Amy Winehouse. While following in their footsteps, Cat does have a uniqueness to her sound that’s been spotted by BBC presenter and fellow Irish woman Laura Whitmore and has been referred to as “A breath of fresh air“.

Produced by the legendary Ger McDonnell (U2, Kasabian, The Cure), the track is already off to a cracking start, making waves in the singer’s home country and further afield. The song describes quite visually how Cat has experienced the pain of love, like many of us have, as we find a relatability to the artist early on. The lyrics that cut the deepest are those found in the chorus “You left some scars of love like a tattoo, no matter what I do“.

Cat says on the track:

“Scars is a song about how each heartbreak leaves a mark on you. It’s for everyone who has experienced pain before.”
