Cat Power shares heartbreaking cover of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’

Cat Power has just released a gorgeous cover of Rihanna’s ‘Stay’.

This gut-wrenching breakup ballad originally featured on Rihanna’s 2012 album Unapologetic and became a rightful hit with its husky vocals and vulnerable lyrics. Cat Power‘s cover treats the song to a stripped back rendering, featuring soft piano, subtle strings and delicate harmonies. It will break your heart all over again.

Cat Power is no stranger to performing covers having released an entire album of them in 2000. “I think it’s one of the highest compliments you can pay another artist. It’s one of the great traditions in American music and one of the true pleasures of music history” she explained.

‘Stay’ is set to feature on Power‘s upcoming album, ‘Wanderer’ which is set for release on 5th October via Domino Records.
