Newcastle four-piece Cat Ryan originally came to notability for their distinctive signature sound that sees them uniquely blend indie-rock and pop. Festival appearances at Truck Festival and Y NOT Festival have followed, alongside opening for Sundra Karma. Tastemakers have also taken a liking to the band, with acclaim from BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6 Music.
Now the quartet returns with their debut EP ‘King of the World’. Across the 5-tracks, the group blends various instrumentation, both electronic and acoustic pouring melodies into the tracks. Shining synth design, glittery electric guitar and grooving bass lines sprinkle in a joyous atmosphere, underlying the poignant and thoughtful lead vocal lyricism.
The band share, “‘King of the World’ holds a deeply personal significance as it features some of the earliest songs written by Mary-Anne back in 2017 for the project. Now, after years of evolution as an artist, these songs have been revisited, reworked, and recorded, reflecting the true and diverse essence of our style.”
