Catherine Elms releases powerful and personal sophomore single ‘Fire Song’

Catherine Elms is an artist with a story to tell. In a life which has been turned upside down on occasion after occasion, Elms has had her fair share of battles to face and come through. After years of building up a following on soundcloud through demo after demo, she made the jump of becoming a releasing artist this year, and unleashes her unique blend of genre influences.

Her second single, ‘Fire Song’, is an epic song and tale all about her personal story and calling as a human being to become something more. It’s alternative, prog rock, and a piano ballad all in one, which makes it so immersive and captivating from the first second.

The video is also brilliantly executed, with Catherine wandering through the lands of uncertainty before entering a fire pit which matches her energy and songwriting prowess. Catherine Elms has a voice and sound to look out for in 2022, and ‘Fire Song’ looks only to be the beginning.

Speaking more on the meaning behind ‘Fire Song’, Catherine says:

“It’s about feeling trapped in your safe mundane life, and feeling the call to be something wild and something greater than you currently are – and eventually giving in to that call, setting your life on fire, and emerging from the ashes of your former self as a stronger, more self-actualised person.

After years of fear and self-doubt, this year I finished writing my debut album, worked with a producer and studio to bring it to life, and Fire Song will be the second single from that album. The song itself explores these themes – feeling that calling for something more, and finally setting yourself free from fear and comfortable safety. The song represents my first steps on a journey out of the dark, a journey towards the place – and person – I’m meant to be.”
