Self-described as the EP for the, ‘softhearted introverted loner who is clumsy at expressing themself, ‘ CC: I Love You is an individually inspired 5-track journey documenting the turbulent, challenging yet crucially rewarding nature of accepting vulnerabilities and insecurities. This softhearted EP speaks of love in 5 essential varieties – suitably appropriate to the number of tracks – thematically exploring pure love, selfish love, spiritual love, obsessive love, and self-love with every song dedicated to a different type of love. ‘CC: I Love You,’ is an intimate, personal release which predominantly draws on Jéermain‘s story; after years of putting on an image and ‘hiding his insecurities,’ late-bloomer Jéermian has began to understand and accept his own unique yet awkward style of giving and receiving love. As a listener, we can visualise a progression from a childish love in the EP’s opener ‘Forever,’ to a spiritual love in ‘Je Reste Forte,’ to an obsessive character in ‘Delilah,’ before blossoming into the ideal closer of self-acceptance and appreciation in ‘Sa Wa Sa.’ It spreads a quintessential message and shows the sheer beauty of vulnerability and evolution of love whilst offering insight into a raw, authentic and tangibly relatable story. ‘CC: I Love You,’ is a distinctly appropriate title for the EP as Jéermain aims to send a message of appreciation to his fans for sticking with him as he carefully curates his craft as he develops his artistry. Best described as a fusion of Afropop rhythms and atmospheric Indie Pop, Jéermain’s new EP not only challenges the restrictive boundaries of genre but is a poetic emancipation of discovery and empowering self-worth; a perfect, feel good listen.

Hailing from Ghana’s enriched capital Accra, Jéermain is a multifaceted musician, singer and performer who is best described as an ‘introverted overthinker riddled with anxiety and still trying to figure life out. With a distinct love of being in love, Jéermain makes music for ‘reserved soft hearts.’ Growing up in a traditional society where masculine-normative stereotypes have been indoctrinated into the culture over an intergenerational period, he found it difficult to express his character truthfully so music brought a solace during tough times and penning songs provided the ideal way to pour out his most intimate and personal feelings. Despite being initially anxious about pursuing a musical career due to worries about his parent’s opinions and quality of his artistry, Jéermain was encouraged by a supportive group of friends to pursue his creative pathway which he did with style after dropping out of college due to the expensive tuition fees. Utilising incessantly catchy melodies and dense sonic soundscape, Jéermain sings about the nuances of being ‘young, dumb, broke and frequently in love,’ as well as illustrating what is was like growing up as Joseph Sakyi Annobil Jr. – a young lower-middle class average African kid loving and living in Accra. With a sound blending Indiepop atmosphere with Afrobeat rhythms and RnB melodies, Jéermain carefully weaves his cultural background into his music which adds an extra layer to his sound and successfully garnered deserved rtraction on his debut album ‘August Might Be Fun,’ ; having amassed over 61,000 streams and reached #1 trending on Twitter in Ghana, Jéermain is more than on his way to success and is one of the leading forefronts of West Africa’s music scene.
