Charity Children release hypnotic third album ‘Almost Young’

Today, Charity Children have revealed their third studio album Almost Young, bringing eclectic indie-pop vibes that will utterly hypnotise listeners. The Berlin-based, New Zealand-raised duo flicker between colourful, uplifting soundscapes and heart-wrenching ballads on this 14-track project, focusing on their storytelling lyrics. Soaring synths and dynamic percussion build around their smooth vocal lines, with the rich instrumentation pulling inspiration from a variety of genres to result in an utterly timeless sound.

Filmmakers, musicians, and now ex-partners Chloë and Elliott have gone through a lot of heartache together, and Almost Young channels this into a beautiful piece of art. The album particularly soars on theatrical focus track ‘She Still Wants You’. Even in the records’ darker moments, there is something about Charity Children’s sound that makes it impossible to turn away.

Elliot says of the album: “We’ve been heartbroken numerous times, we’ve lost loved ones, we’ve made incredible friendships, we’ve seen new places, we’re inspired by new things. Like everyone, life doesn’t stop evolving- change is inevitable – so it would be artistically dishonest to not allow your music to change with you. Whatever we settled on in this album is simply a reflection of where and who we are right now. We like to make albums that reflect the spectrum of our experiences and we’re certainly not people defined by one mood. No one is. Almost Young embraces the bi-polarity of one’s existence.”
