Charlie Tonight debuts with the gritty single ‘Do You Want Me (Come On)’

Emerging with an ambition to play on the best stages the world has to offer, alt-rock newcomer Charlie Tonight has pivoted away from her classical career, arriving with a brand new and electrifying band to make her presence known.

Bringing a track drenched in personality, rock grit and dramatic performances, Charlie Tonight’s debut single is the eager ‘Do You Want Me (Come On)’. After spending more than a minute introducing us to the fiery musicianship her band has to offer, the distorted guitar arpeggios and powerful cymbals take a moment to fall away, unveiling our lead vocalist. Performing with an authentic and fearless tone, Charlie charges through alongside the instrumentation, pairing up with their high-energy blues melodies and their post-punk chugs. A statement of intent as she announces a debut album to follow, this is Charlie Tonight.

Charlie dives into her debut, “’Do You Want Me’ started out with a question I kept asking myself at the end of a relationship: what does desire and love mean today? How much are we willing to let go of our fully independent selves to create something with somebody else? To let go of control? I’ve had to end more than one relationship that felt shallow although big feelings were announced. People in my generation are scared of feelings, attraction even.

We are freer than we’ve ever been, yet we find it hard to change our lives, even in the slightest, to come out, to say yes to somebody new, fully and unconditionally. I thought that was the whole point of the 70s Revolution, Feminism, the hippies, the rockers, the LGBTQAI+ movement…Instead, we’re more scared than we’ve ever been. Of course I was also angry and sad, so yes, this is a breakup song.”
