Chasing Kites return with ‘Luna’, capturing the rush of falling for someone while the world begins to collapse around you. The Bristol four-piece tap into their signature blend of indie and dreampop with elegance, weight and just enough wonder.
Produced by Sam Winfield (Bring Me The Horizon, Amber Run), ‘Luna’ begins within an ambient haze, as glistening electronics meet shoegaze-laced bass and guitars and percussion becomes crisp and direct. Matt Donnelly on vocals cuts through with aching uncertainty, grounding the dreaminess in tangible reality. Then comes the chorus, a burst of energy that pulls the track upward and outward, bringing the anthemic to the gentle edge.
Donelly adds, “‘Luna’ is the retelling of a dream I had about the end of the world. Although this apocalyptic scenario is inevitably quite crucial, the track is more centred around the protagonist falling in love, overshadowing everything else that is going on. It’s a love letter to the all-consuming power of infatuation.”
Since 2021, Chasing Kites have quickly become one of Bristol’s most exciting prospects. Sold-out shows, support slots alongside The Lottery Winners and Dutch Criminal Record, and features from outlets, their upward momentum feels as natural as their songwriting.
