Chela Omen is a producer, DJ, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist whose focus on UK Bass Music has seen him work on the fringe of a new underground wave. Chela’s rise this year has seen him release ‘Rio’ alongside Scrufizzer and ‘Dibby Sound’ alongside Dread FM, cementing a position in the underground scene and honing his versatile talents. The latest single unleashed onto the airwaves is ‘Try It’.
‘Try It’ combines Chela’s bass music roots with Latin breaks, a frenzied and excitable party atmosphere. Opening with a pounding kick drum played against insatiable percussive bounce, the track quickly combines the ethereality of long bass notes and rising synth strings with this thrilling rhythmic direction.
Soon bass hits, vocal chops and infectious melodies begin to push further into the forefront, shattering the weightlessness with rolling, pitch-bent drums and UKG shuffling. Though, at the end of the track, what’s left in your head is a glamoured vocal line and an infectious melody, the energy you take forward is led by the repeating power of gut-punching bass and chaotic but enthralling percussive booms.
Chela explains the idea behind the track, adding, “‘Try It’ for me is a fun, feel-good, n sexy track. I wrote this tune with Vanessa Carr at a writing camp in 2023. For this track we wanted it to seduce ravers on the dance floor, pulling them into this playful world before slapping them in the face with a big fat bass wub and some crazy percussive chops.”
