CHELJI drops bold new single ‘Funeral’

CHELJI is a Birmingham-born artist who’s bringing a new attitude to 21st century pop. The artist exploded in popularity on TIkTok, inspiring her to bring her music career back to the light. In 2022, the artist was reborn, cultivating a fanbase over 1 million strong. She debuted with ‘Still Here’ and ‘23’, achieving over 2.5M streams in just 90 days. CHELJI’s music tackles themes domestic abuse, severe depression and substance abuse, with her own experiences allowing her to break past these themes into what could become more positive.

CHELJI is returning with a breakup anthem entitled ‘Funeral’. Opening with a tension building guitar line the track is instantly moody, aggressive and powerful. The guitar melody then switches to the bass, leaving the guitar open for a gritty, distorted, off-beat chord pattern, pairing with the drums to become a subtly driving force for the track. CHELJI’s vocals are carefully controlled, she feels in charge of her own emotions, with the chorus layering up for an overwhelming chant that help this track achieve its anthemic status.

She shares, “I wrote funeral when I was in Sweden, as always I started with a guitar loop.. I never know what I’m going to write about until I start free styling and just start “saying how i feel” but I seemed to be angry about a past relationship at the time so I went with it. It’s a karma anthem.”
