This EP has been shaped over the course of 18 months, and I’ve been very free to express myself, working alongside producers that gave me the room to do that,” Cherri explains of the new record. I called the record Brown Eyed Soul Vol. 1 to put a spin on the term ‘blue eyed soul’. I don’t think Black artists get enough credit for creating this genre of music, which comes the most natural to us – whether you want to call it urban, R&B or Soul. The title of the EP is important to me because I wanted to highlight the importance of black artists being credited for the beauty of ‘Brown Eyed Soul’”.
