Cigarette Social Club certainly love to push the boundaries of indie, and their new EP ‘DIY’ encompasses a striking array of elements, from the energetic, riff-infused ‘Helicopter’ to the frustrated exploration of ‘Sequel’.
Speaking about ‘Sequel’, Cigarette Social Club share: “Sequel structurally reflects the twists and turns that relationships pose, questions on the reality of love and doubting your feelings and thoughts.”
The band take it down a notch on ‘Spaceman’, a live recording and a melodic, laidback lament, showing the band’s range and thoughtful lyricism, complimented by a jazzy, smooth saxophone.
Cigarette Social Club may be rockers but the ‘DIY’ EP proved that their so much more and they have endless creativity to shake up the industry with.
