Rising indie band Cloud House have revealed their latest single, ‘Don’t Wanna Talk’. This stirring track serves as the second glimpse into their anticipated EP, titled ‘Still Here,’ which is slated for release on November 1. Cloud House fans can also mark their calendars for a headline live performance at Glasgow’s iconic King Tut’s venue on September 29.
Known for their anthemic and stadium-ready indie pop sound, ‘Don’t Wanna Talk’ continues to showcase the band’s prowess in crafting captivating melodies. Lead singer Conor’s deeply personal narrative takes center stage as he paints a vivid picture of his childhood struggles while caring for his terminally ill mother. The song serves as a poignant reminder of the emotional weight he carried during those challenging times.
Conor, reflecting on the inspiration behind the song, shared, “This song is inspired by a journey I used to take as a young boy. My mum was ill throughout my childhood, and I cared for her since I was old enough to remember. I always felt like I had the weight of the world on my shoulders as it was just Mum and I on our own.”
He continues, “I used to put on a brave face for her, but deep down it was a struggle for me. I wanted to be a kid. I wanted her to get better. I used to get the bus home and go past my stop as I didn’t want to go home quite just yet. I would go through phases of being okay and just getting on with it.”
Cloud House’s unique musical identity is characterised by soaring vocals and rich instrumentation. Their ability to intertwine vulnerability with resilience is evident throughout their upcoming EP, ‘Still Here.’ Comprising seven tracks, this collection delves into themes of grief, hope, resilience, childhood struggles, longing, loss, and personal growth. It marks a significant evolution for the band, whose last EP, ‘Days Changed,’ was released in 2021.
Cloud House have earned a reputation as a rare breed of musicians capable of capturing the human experience with raw honesty and undeniable emotion. Formed in a hot tub in 2019, their empowering and relatable songs are a testament to their eclectic musical tastes and personal experiences. The band comprises five talented musicians: Conor, Patrick, Jack, Calum, and Morgan, each contributing their unique perspective to the band’s rich musical tapestry.
As Cloud House’s ‘Don’t Wanna Talk’ prepares to make its mark on the music scene, fans and newcomers alike can look forward to an EP that promises to be a poignant journey through the complexities of life, offering solace, inspiration, and a powerful sense of connection.
