Italian music producer and DJ “Coke Beats” new cover of the 80’s classic “Relax” by English synth-pop band Frankie Goes to Hollywood is a tribute to the mid 80s club scene.
“Relax” was initially featured on the soundtrack of the films Body Double (1984), Zoolander (2001), and T2 Trainspotting (2017) and has become one of the most popular LGBTQ anthems in the world. The controversial video directed by Bernard Rose and set in an S&M-themed gay nightclub, initially banned, was followed by the infamous 16 minutes extended version of the song known as ‘The Sex Mix’;. However, it didn’t get the response expected, ‘The Sex Mix’ has been the primary source of inspiration for Coke Beats’s cover of the Frankie Goes to Hollywood classic.
For this cover, Coke Beats has used a vintage TR808 drum machine, and the help of AI-powered robot singer “Fate Loves Irony,” which performs a great clone of the original Holly Johnson vocals.
