Commons debut with unique ethereality of ‘Queen Of Hearts’

Captivating audiences across their Nottingham home town, Commons have already earned their stripes playing packed-out shows. Already performing at the likes of Beat The Streets Festival, and booking a live date at Rough Trade Nottingham, the band’s high-energy performances tag them as one to watch.

Now sharing their unique alt-rock sound with the world, Commons have released their debut single ‘Queen Of Hearts’. Bringing a balance of atmospheric backdrops, roaring riffs and passionate vocal performances, the band integrate synthesised steel drums and twangy distorted licks. The vocals switch between a delicate ethereality and a youthful indie exuberance, embracing the ever-changing haunting and celestial tendencies of instrumentation.

The band explain the single, “The song Queen Of Hearts at its core is a song about a ‘man eater’ of a woman who doesn’t care who’s hearts she breaks, as long as she eventually gets what she wants.”
