Corgan defends Trump in “fake news” diatribe

Billy Corgan has defended Donald Trump in a new interview, hitting out at “fake news” about the President-Elect.

The Smashing Pumpkin spoke to the Mancow Morning Show about allegations that Trump hired Russian hookers to perform sexual acts in a hotel room, he said: “I hate to make the most obvious point: If you’ve got 10 billion dollars, you’re not hiring hookers.”

He also reasserted his view that mainstream American media is out of touch with the country’s working-class contingent: “I think it’s an important time, and I’m trying to document that as an artist… If I just filter what I read through the media, which obviously yesterday was a watershed day with the media, if I just filter what I read through the media, I’m not really in touch with the world I grew up in. I know there’s a gap there.”

Corgan is currently filming a series entitled Thirty Days, where he embarks “on a trip to see if the American culture that I recognised as being a part of was still there.”
