David Hobbes is searching for something

California’s David Hobbes just released this lovely little number that’s playful in its groove, but boasts some pretty weighty lyrics. He’s a very literal songwriter, painting visuals that Tom Waits would envy. For this project, Hobbes teamed up with singer, songwriter, producer Rachel Efron, whom he met after attending a songwriting session of hers. The end result is his full length debut, Searching For A Home.

We asked Hobbes about the inspiration for the song and he said “When I write a song, often a line comes to me and it’s not until later that I understand what the song is about. This song is one of those. It started off as just a play on words: “She was always wrong, became a writer.” And then it turned into a window on two people in a relationship desperately trying to prove to themselves they are not who they fear themselves to be.”

Searching For A Home releases Friday, the 17th of November; but only by a measure of degree.
