We’ve covered the young DinoVert before for his previous release Runaway, and now he is back with a darker, moodier and more mature sound. While Runaway offers a pop sensibility that everyone can bop too, we discover another side of Brandon Kostelnik, one that is clouded with smoke and judgement.
Smoke starts off with a catchy guitar riff that crescendos into the track, starting with the lyrics “I kiss you with the cigarette smoke, inside my eyes”. The song continues with almost a sense of urgency or resentment as the guitars get crunchier and heavier until the pre-chorus, which offers a sense of justified relief, before the chorus bring us back to what the track is all about – energy.
This new development in sound for Brandon is a healthy step in the right direction, and although it may not be as accesible as Runaway, it shows a more important strength – creativity. Now, we’re excited for what’s next. Be sure to check Smoke out below and support the artist.
