Melbourne artist and producer Luca Pascucci, known for his eclectic taste and innovative soundscapes, has unveiled his latest project, Eli. Blending alternative dance music with energetic club vibes and hyper-pop/punk influences, Eli’s music is a fresh breath into the electronic scene. On June 5th, Eli released his debut single “Opening/Track ID,” offering us a tantalizing glimpse into his upcoming five-track EP set for release in August.
“Opening/Track ID” isn’t just any song—it’s a bold statement. Luca, inspired by the relentless energy and chaotic rhythms of Scan’s “Bees”, crafted this track in a matter of sessions. Sitting on a friend’s couch, overlooking the bustling streets and shops, Luca channeled his thoughts and emotions into a high-energy, rhythmically intricate piece. The result? A track that encapsulates the essence of Eli—vibrant electronica, modern club production, and introspective lyrics.
“This first song was the last one I wrote and produced,” Luca shares. “I made this one quite quickly over just a couple of sessions while sitting on a friend’s couch in their apartment overlooking the shops and busy streets. I had been listening to Scan’s ‘Bees’ on repeat for days and felt like I wanted to make something like that; high energy, rhythmically chaotic with a sense of ‘politely, fuck you’. As I wrote the lyrics, it became clear this was not going to be a typically written track; less ‘verse, chorus, verse’ and more of a continuous train of thought, almost as if it was freestyled.”
“Opening/Track ID” serves as both the opening track of the EP and a mission statement for Eli. The song quickly encapsulates what the project is about: energetic electronica, club-inspired production, and deeply personal, reflective lyrics. “The lyrics represent the way I feel about making music and what it means to me—the doubtfulness of creating and the feeling of being out of your depth,” Luca explains.
Eli’s sound can be likened to a fusion of Skin On Skin, Bladee, and Nia Archives, but with a unique twist that only Luca can provide. His ability to weave intricate rhythms with high-energy beats and raw, honest lyrics sets Eli apart in the crowded landscape of electronic music.
