In a quiet brick house nestled in the countryside south of Rome, a new musical project was born in January 2024. This project, now known as “our kids” weaves an intricate tapestry of Brit-rock and grunge influences with the essence of indie rock, Hypnagogic, and noise pop. Imagine a soundscape where the foggy, introspective writing of Blur melds seamlessly with the sonic explorations of King Krule and Double Virgo. This is the world our kids invites you to enter.
They just returned with “salad”, the first of three singles leading up to their highly anticipated EP. This EP is just a taste of what’s to come, with a full album scheduled for early 2025.
The journey of this new track from the duo is one of spontaneous creation, where a sense of newfound direction and freedom sparked an afternoon of intense, inspired music-making. Niccolò and Edoardo, the creative forces behind our kids, describe the creation of “salad” as a moment of clarity and collaboration. The track began with a captivating bass riff, around which lyrics and guitar lines organically intertwined. Niccolò and Edoardo’s musical journey began long before our kids. As members of the Italian post-punk band GBRESCI, they spent three years playing gigs around Italy. After the release of their last album, they felt the need to explore new directions, leading to the birth of our kids. Their past experiences, from living in Rome to their time in the UK, infuse their music with a rich tapestry of influences and emotions.
As our kids prepares to release their debut EP and eventually their album, fans can look forward to a series of releases that promise to delve deeper into their unique sound and storytelling. Each song is a chapter in a larger narrative, a piece of the puzzle that will culminate in a full album experience in early 2025.
