Dolce Blue unveil sleek new single ‘Sugar Free’

Dolce Blue first formed in 2018, the Western Australia four-piece debuting with the single ‘New White Sneakers’, shortly followed by the 13-track epic ‘Forever Is Too Long’. Receiving support from WA local institution RTRFM 92.1 at both their Winter Music Festival and top 100, as well as radio coverage from ABC’s Triple J and Unearthed, the band continued to grow, releasing their second album ‘Sweet Melancholy’ last year. The upcoming year is set to be pivotal for Dolce Blue, as they perform across the nation and release more music.

The band just released their new single ‘Sugar Free’, a subtly anthemic distorted paradise. The track immediately gets underway with intoxicating grooves, balancing a punchy beat with sleek melodies that float across the atmosphere. Delicate yet confident, the lead vocal playfully pushes against glossy guitar licks. After falling into a rich guitar solo, the track breaks down into an angelic interlude, the soft atmospheres rising back into the bouncy movements for the final chorus.

Lead vocalist Veronica shares a comment on the single,  “When I’m not making music I work freelance events, and in early 2023 I was working at this particular music festival as the artist liaison which inspired Sugar Free. I was thinking about all these big music acts, and fulfilling all their lists of requests for food, drink, and other things, and just got a bit caught up in wishing I was on the other side of things, to be one of the artists. I work to fund my music, which is hard when after it all I don’t have as much time or energy as I’d like to put into the music. So this song is me wishing that my dream of being a full time artist could be a reality.”
