Double Major drops floor-filler ‘RKR’

Born in Karachi, Pakistan, now calling Berlin home, producer-songwriter Double Major has a groove-first ethos and penchant for bridging disco, pop and rave. Crafting dance music that connects cultures, bodies and emotions, his writing across themes of love and playfulness is transformed into sonic retrofuturism.

On the new single ‘RKR’, Double Major hits the floor running with a bouncing percussive pulse, elastic bassline and instant momentum. Sticky synths weave a neon glow around the beat. Lovingly dipped in nostalgia but fizzing with a sense of scene and innovation, it transcends language into a joyful but personal three-minute bop. It’s a tantalising taste of a forthcoming EP, and a strong statement on how to move a room.

Speaking about the release, he comments, “I wanted to bring back the spirit of disco that was so present in the 70s and 80s in South Asia and combine it with the power of synth bass and dance music that Berlin is so deeply connected to. It is an attempt for me as an artist to reconnect with my Pakistani identity in the language, and create something new with that in combination with my growth as a musician here in Berlin.”
