Emerging on the London scene in 2017, Duke & The Dry Cleaners are pioneering a gleaming brand of Acid Jazz entwined with elements of Funk, Disco and Soul. Their new single ‘Now We’re Cooking’ takes the jazzy riffs and grooving bass of the band’s signature sound, and then steers it in a slightly different direction. Lead singer Oli Duke’s vocals deliver self-assured lyrics that are complemented by soulful harmonies; the song is indicative of the band’s scintillating potential.
“This song was written after a music festival in the woods with an amazing group of people. I was trying to encapsulate that feeling of being surrounded by people you love and who you know will look out for you, and wanting to share that far and wide. It’s a bit different to our other songs but I think it maintains that funky undercurrent that drives and motivates us.”
‘Now We’re Cooking’ follows the band’s debut single ‘I Want To’ which was released in May and received notable acclaim from blog coverage. The band have also been praised for their dynamic live performances, and are looking to bring that kineticism to their studio recordings that are due to be released throughout the year. It’s worth keeping your eyes on Duke & The Dry Cleaners.
