Dutch Criminal Record return with shining single ‘Now or Never’

Brighton-trio Dutch Criminal Record has built a steady but ever-increasing hype around the breezy glow of their signature sound. Touring across Europe alongside Sea Girls, making appearances at the likes of SXSW, Stag & Dagger Festival and Ynot Festival and selling out headliners across the UK their rising star status has been confirmed time and time again.

Set to open the floodgates of a slew of 2024 releases, the three-piece has just unveiled the new single ‘Now or Never’, a track bringing a dreamy indie pop bounce to shimmering guitar arpeggios and wistful vocal performances. Delicately balancing the soft, hazy sparkle the track is wrapped in with a non-stop, driven rhythms section, ‘Now or Never’ is effortlessly addictive. A vivid sense of both down-to-earth performances and cosmic atmospheres gives the single an emotive and anthemic shine, an exciting start to 2024.

Sam Thrussel, one-third of Dutch Criminal Record alongside Joe Frampton and Joe Delaney-Stone, explain “’Now or Never’ began life very differently – as a little acoustic guitar demo I made. I used a tuning that I had adapted from a John Fahey piece I was learning at the time (DGDF#AD) and was inspired by M. Ward’s ‘The First Time I Ran Away’! I showed the band and they both were adamant it could be adapted into a full band DCR tune, which is where we added the dreamy intro and the heavy (by our standards) rock out at the end! The song itself is about acknowledging your mistakes and shortcomings and hopefully becoming a better person from that as a result.”
