Ed Staal releases new grooving E.P ‘Battle Scars & Broken Hearts’ with lead single ‘Naked’

Hertfordshire-based Ed Staal has released a new E.P ‘Battle Scars & Broken Hearts,’ a stunning collection of well-penned tracks. The E.P is a well-flowing offering, from tracks such as ‘Baby Blue’ feature vulnerable and glistening instrumentals with vocal lines soaked in pop sensibilities. Whereas tracks such as lead single ‘Naked’ are much more upbeat offerings – playful drums, grooving bass and irresistible vocal lines.

Talking about the new single ‘Naked’ and the EP as a whole says: “‘Naked’ is a song that is probably the most relevant to where I am in my life right now. It’s an upbeat, cheeky way of me saying “I just wanna have fun right now and that’s ok”. It was probably the easiest and simplest song to make yet it’s probably my favourite on the project.

My latest body of tunes! Battle Scars & Broken Hearts is a pretty genre fluid collection of songs that I’ve been writing over the past few years and covers the parts of my romantic experiences that I wanted to share with people. I wanted to capture how it feels to fall for someone as well as lose and miss that person and all the crazy things that go on inside your head throughout. Having written, recorded and produced the entire project myself, it’s a body of work super close to my heart that I hope people will be able to connect with as soon as they hear it.”

Building on regular support from BBC Introducing, radio play from BBC Radio 1 and across tastemaker music magazines including Clout, Alfitude and Backseat Mafia, Ed has gained a whole host of tastemaker press coverage as well as over 150,000 streams on Spotify alone and has now found himself amongst a talented team of creators in ‘Syndicate Management’. Working with this team, Ed has curated his greatest works yet in the form of an upcoming EP in collaboration with artist/producer Dom Porter. Having already built a reputation as an exciting young artist, the new EP will surely see Ed Staal soar to new heights.
