Hot on the heels of her earlier release ‘If You Want’, Eden Cami makes a glowing return to the limelight with her latest single ‘Water Take Me Away’. Driven by a passion for music from a young age, Eden was often met with resistance from the patriarchal society she was born into. After losing her voice to surgery at eighteen, she has been slowly relearning her ability to speak and honing her craft since. Now, as she gears up to unveil her debut EP later this year, Eden Cami releases her second teaser single, ‘Water Take Me Away’.
A delicate piano line drifted through the airwaves, breathing life into the track, and was shortly followed by a complementary vocal line. ‘Water Take Me Away’ dances the line between alternative and pop, whilst building momentum throughout the track. Tied together by lyrics inspired by the liquid nature of life’s ups, downs and complexities, the single looks to further establish Cami as a rising songwriter and artist.
Reflecting on the meaning of the single, Cami shares, “I wrote this song thinking about the complexity of fleeing—whether from war, oppression, or the weight of social conventions. Even after reaching physical safety, the emotional journey continues. As the lyrics took shape, I realised it also came from a deeply personal place, not fleeing a war, but a reality that didn’t allow me to be who I truly am.
