Edwin Rosen shares visuals for ‘Leichter//kälter’ alongside new track ‘SSS’

Upcoming German artist Edwin Rosen has re-released his 2020 single ‘Leichter//kälter’, now accompanied by B-side track ‘SSS’. Channeling a brand of 80s inspired new wave/post punk which Rosen has coined ‘neueneue deutsche welle’, the scintillating synths and rolling beats of these smooth tracks are accompanied by a music video created by French director Nicolas Medy.

Speaking of his new release, Rosen explains: “When I first uploaded ‘leichter// kälter’, I didn’t expect much and didn’t really promote the song and therefore didn’t film a video either. But then I was contacted by the Parisian experimental filmmaker Nicolas Medy. Nicolas was a fan of the song and wanted to ask me if he could use my song in his upcoming short ‘Nuit de Chine’. I agreed and in exchange he cut the lyric video for ‘leichter//kälter’ from footage from his archive, since filming was made rather difficult through the ongoing pandemic. ‘J’ai le nez dans le guidon’ is Nicolas‘ theme for the video. His recordings help to underline the feeling of nostalgia and melancholia that the song also conveys.”

Edwin Rosen began self-releasing music in 2020, and his arrival onto the scene has been well received. His songs have built up a presence on TikTok, and the first release of ‘Leichter//kälter’ has attained over 1 million streams so far. Now signed to Berlin indie label, IRRSINN, Rosen’s string of singles is leading towards an EP release later this year, and we can expect big things.
