Ellette unveils dreamy new single ‘the boy who never grew up’, a fairy tale for the edge of adulthood

Swiss-British alternative pop artist Ellette releases her latest single “the boy who never grew up”, the final chapter before unveiling her much-anticipated EP Ever After. Known for her lush, fairytale-inspired soundscapes and intimate lyricism, Ellette’s new track is a gentle, melancholic reflection on the painful beauty of growing up and the longing to pause time before stepping into the unknown.

Inspired by Peter Pan and infused with Ellette’s signature storytelling, “the boy who never grew up” marries delicate harp melodies, live cello (performed by Maddie Ashman), and bedroom-recorded vocals to create a cinematic yet deeply personal ballad. The single was co-produced in London with long-time collaborators Jagun and Gustavo, and mixed and mastered by FADENT.

“This song was inspired by ‘Peter Pan’, and is about the hardships of growing up and the first steps into adulthood,” Ellette shares. “Despite how scary, we can’t ignore responsibility or who we are becoming — and yet, part of us always longs to stay behind.”

Ellette, whose name means “little elf” in old Anglo-Saxon, grew up in Geneva, Switzerland, before moving to London in 2018 to pursue music full-time. Her ethereal aesthetic and lyrical depth have drawn comparisons to Melanie Martinez and Ariana Grande, while her sound is wholly her own, a blend of dream pop, chamber elements, and poetic storytelling.

“the boy who never grew up” is the final single from Ever After, an EP that continues the narrative themes of her debut album Her Own Little Fairytale (2022), blurring the lines between myth and memory. The new project showcases Ellette’s evolution as both a songwriter and sonic world-builder, creating stories that feel like spells whispered under moonlight.
