Emily Coupe may be up and coming, but that hasn’t stopped her crafting and refining her musicianship. With inspiration from Taylor Swift, Kacey Musgrave and Sheryl Crowe, it’s clear the young singer-songwriter has taken inspiration from these heavyweights but has redeveloped their sounds and made them her own.
Talking about the track, Emily shares: “It’s about that fire inside that pushes each of us,” Coupe said. “I wanted to capture that sting of failing, toxic relationships and turn it into something that unfortunately many out there – especially young women – could relate to.” The song is somewhat of a departure for the typically joyful Australian-born half-Asian, half-English artist. “That pressure to push on, very much a part of my personal experience, I think is present on ‘One To Blame’” Coupe said.
This latest single comes as her star is on the rise in both the world of music and film. ‘One To Blame’ is set to be the first of many releases this year for the young up-and-comer. While Coupe grows her list of musical accolades and accomplishments alongside other artistic endeavors as an actress, One To Blame is likely to be closely associated with the film industry as well as it will be featured as the opening song for the movie The Crossroads. She will also be featured in the film and serves as a producer. We’re excited to see Emily’s progress as she goes from strength to strength.
