ENAKA releases warm new single “Heart Strings”

ENAKA is a Cameroonian-American director/singer-songwriter/producer that hails from Riverdale, GA. She’s quickly gained the reputation as a rising star, with her refreshing take on R&B being lauded by fans and tastemakers alike. ENAKA’s identity as a queer Black person has been integral and influential within her art. Emotional topics are often placed within most of her creative outlets, creating a safe and warming space for her audience.

ENAKA is back with a new infectious new single “Heart Strings.” The track features a colourful melting pot of playful drums, heartwarming synths and divine backing vocals. Her lead vocal lines grace the track softly and work hand in glove with well-penned lyrics. We, for one, can see 2023 being her year with music like this.

Speaking about the single, she says: “I wrote this record about fun, yet confusing dalliances that feel like a tug of war. One minute you’re ecstatic and the next minute you don’t know where things are heading. I wanted to express how that special person’s charm can tug on your heart strings for the better in a comedic way. I wanted it to feel whimsical and upbeat. I made the beat during the pandemic and shot the music video. The lyrics didn’t come until last year. When I heard the beat again after all that time I was blown away and it was easy for them to flow.”

ENAKA was awarded New Fest’s of Emerging Black LGBTQ+ Director Award in 2020, for her short film “MERCURY AFROGRADE.” Alongside this, she’s starred in Pepi Ginsberg’s film, “THE PASS”, an official selection at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, and her most recent self-directed music video, “Chasing Amour” was featured in Forbes. With accolades such as this, we cannot wait to see where she’ll take her powerful visual/music combo.
