EP REVIEW: Retrofile – ‘Lost In Sound’

Ever since they first emerged, Canadian twin duo Retrofile have always looked to add a fresh and vibrant aesthetic to the glittering electro-pop sound. And after a run of incredibly catchy outings already this year, they are looking to cement this phase of their career with their stunning new EP ‘Lost In Sound’, a release brimming with bright and glossy textures.

While the pair’s output in recent years has largely focused on single track releases, this new five-track collection perfectly elevates their dynamic direction of late. Combining the warm and soaring energy of the 80s pop era with this wonderfully modern twist, ‘Lost In Sound’ makes for a brilliantly innovative listen. Honing some of their most spellbinding songwriting to date, the brothers feel completely at ease throughout this new offering, and add yet another infectious entry to their ever-evolving catalogue so far.

While they have certainly been building a broad and diverse direction for themselves in recent years, it feels good to know that ‘Lost In Sound’ still manages to find and explore new and interesting ideas. With an already immersive catalogue under their belts, Retrofile continue to push their sound forward here.
