Father John Misty shares title track, ‘Pure Comedy’, from highly anticipated upcoming album

Father John Misty, aka Josh Tillman, surprises fans with his release of the title track, ‘Pure Comedy‘, from his highly anticipated upcoming album which is due for release 7th April 2017. Despite spirits being at an all time low after the election of Donald Trump, Father John Misty pours his heart into the piano-led track.

Exploring the horrors of the 21st century, the single discusses politics, religion, social media and more in just under seven minutes. The satirical lyrics are completely controlled by Tillman’s raw but modulated vocals, layered above simple smooth piano chords.  Concluding the track is the haunting line: “I hate to say it / But each other’s all we’ve got”, leaving the nation on the edge of their seats, praying for the rest of ‘Pure Comedy‘ to give us the answers.

Alongside the album’s title track, Father John Misty also released a 30-minute film about the making of the album. Directed by Tillman and Grant James, the black and white mini-documentary not only features Misty in the studio but gives teasers of tracks from ‘Pure Comedy‘ in the most artistic of manners.
