Frank Follows has just unveiled their latest indie-rock anthem, “Hey!” which dropped on June 14th. This new single builds on the momentum of their previous single “Lights Out,” which found its way onto Spotify’s New Music Friday playlists in both Sweden and Denmark and amassed over 152,000 streams on Spotify.
Frank Follows, comprised of lead singer and guitarist Adrian Berhardson, guitarist Måns Ekholm, and Olof Victor on keys and production, met as students at the Royal Academy of Music in Stockholm. Since then, they have been honing their signature sound, which has positioned them as a rising force in the indie-rock scene.
Initially, the band struggled to find a lead singer, prompting Adrian to record vocal demos, which were quickly to become the cornerstone of their music, soon after leading to the release of their debut album, “Flight Thoughts.” This album was a defining moment for the group, showcasing their bold ambition and securing their place in the Swedish indie-rock scene.
“Hey!” delves into uncharted emotional depths with unwavering honesty. This bold step in the band’s sound is driven forward by a slick guitar riff that shape-shifts and evolves as Adrian’s lyrics unfold. The drum line serves as a grounding force, pounding away beneath the light and airy choruses.
“Hey!” is an infectiously sunny, catchy track that boasts a memorable hook and captivating harmonies. However, it is the profound message of vulnerability and self-perception woven into each refrain that sets the song apart. The track’s conception began with a blossoming riff from guitarist Måns and producer Olof, which Adrian then penned the catchy lyrics over. The result is a track that is both musically and lyrically compelling, showcasing Frank Follows’ ability to blend infectious melodies with deep, introspective themes.
