Fredrick’s stripped back sound leaves a powerful feeling that’s hard to shake

Freddie Long, better known by his stage name, Fredrick, is a 24-year-old singer-songwriter and performer from Twickenham, London. Fredrick blends his striking rustic vocals with minimal guitar and piano melodies to create a stripped back and personal sound. In 2016, the self-taught musician made the difficult decision to quit his day job and follow his heart down a path of musical enlightenment. Although a tough decision to make, it was definitely the right one.

Fredrick likes to feel a connection with both the song and his audience. He finds this is best done through the lyrical aspect and the vocal work, hence his stripped back style – keeping his voice at the forefront of his music. Occasionally dabbling in the more technical side of music production, using Logic Pro and various other pieces of software, Fredrick is able to combine both digital elements with his unique and organic sound.

Fredrick fell in love with music at a young age. Although he didn’t derive from a particularly musical family, his parents always loved listening to records – and so did he. With Fredrick’s parents introducing him to what would be his first musical influences, he drew inspiration from soulful artists such as; Maxwell and Jamiroquai – then later finding a likening to hip-hop. Now older and more experienced, with his music tastes defined, Fredrick finds inspiration in artists by the likes of Tom Misch and Ed Sheeran, and he wouldn’t hesitate to jump in the studio with them should the opportunity arise.

Whilst being an ambitious musician, Freddie is also very passionate about fashion, contemporary streetwear, and photography. With his own branding and marketing business, Flaunt le Media, Fredrick helps others to develop their brands, promote their ideas and achieve their dreams.

Fredrick‘s music speaks for itself, and his stripped back cover of ‘Youth‘ by Daughter is the perfect example. The acoustic rendition showcases his powerful and stirring vocals which leave a feeling that’s hard to shake. Fredrick‘s down-tempo take on the 2013 hit ‘Youth‘ makes for a gripping journey and a moving exploration of his sound.

Now playing numerous shows in the West London area, performing either on his guitar or piano, Fredrick is ready to broaden his horizons and showcase his trademark sound to the masses. 2017 is set to be an interesting year for Fredrick with plans to write more original content for an EP and of course, play out to his fans as much as possible.
