KWONIX is the soulful meeting of minds, bringing together the talents of Los Angeles producer Kwo and Richmond native Unïx. First crossing paths in 2023, the subsequent couple of years have embedded now flourishing roots of creative chemistry. Now lighting the spark for this duo project, their fusing neo-soul, funk and experimental R&B in their jazzy first single ‘Full Speed’.
Sleek to its core, the immersive first drop does a fantastic job of capturing KWONIX’s unique sonic identity, surrounding the listener in a wash of lush instrumentation and colourful sound design.
All this makes for something velvety and cinematic, that fresh timelessness that we’re all collectively seeking. Subtle groove shifts through dynamic drums supported by firm bass grooves and topped with gorgeously sunny chords and vocal timbres.
Kwo explains, “‘Full Speed’ is an epic sonic journey & self-affirmation for anyone pushing through the trials & tribulations of life. We wrote & recorded it in two quick sessions during Unïx’s LA visit in April 2025.” He continues, “We talked about a lot of life while we were together, and Unïx recalled me saying that despite a lot of upheaval in my life at the time, I felt like I was moving ‘full speed’. He took it from there effortlessly. Our hope is that this song can motivate, comfort, & uplift everyone whose ears fall upon it, however it may find you.”
