Rising Toronto-based band GelaX’s aim is to bring fresh and unexpected songs to the indie scene, while ignoring genre restrictions, and experimenting with new sounds, fashion ideas and aesthetics. With their meaningful lyrics, dreamy vocals and climaxing endings they have already achieved major milestones, like getting featured on CBC’s Top 3 Ontario Songs to Watch For.
Their latest genre-bending release comes in the form of ‘Mr. Square’, an avant-garde dance-pop anthem, paired with an equally impressive and non-conforming music video. The unique single starts off in minimal fashion, utilizing weird effects and an 808 bassline, before jumping into the chorus which is dominated by an electric guitar riff and a unique atmosphere.
