Nightbird Casino have continued their barrage of genre blending, sonically challenging releases with newest single ‘The Town’. With the rhythm section perfectly capturing the groove of the track, the foundations are laid for the rest of the instruments to develop their own chaos around the grounded groove. The instruments used on ‘The Town’ are often found in the brass section of an orchestra, it is no surprise that the song is operatic, tense and genuinely challenging in places.
This momentum is continued in the lyricism too. With philosophical themes and imagery, the listener is encouraged to understand their words however you want. This shows the skill in Nightbird Casino’s songwriting, and encourages you to listen over and over, seeing if you can pick up anything different from a previous listen.
If ‘The Town’ is anything to go by, Nightbird Casino are a band to watch in 2021, and one of the most interesting bands to appear from California in recent years
