After generating huge buzz for his previously shared tracks ‘Writing Stage’ and ‘Loco’ earlier this year, Reading-based rapper K.Kayne recently returned to share his latest gem ‘All Alone’.
Channeling a more lovelorn direction this time around, ‘All Alone’ saw him broaden his creative wings and offer something far more heartfelt.
And with the new single doing the rounds, we sat down with him to find out more about his background and origins.
What was the first instrument you fell in love with?
Since I was young my uncle who lived with my nan and me had his brothers over as a band, he was so good with the drums and I loved the sound and I believe they add to a big part of a song but I have not yet got around to learning.
What was the first band or artist you enjoyed when you were younger?
I never really had a first person I listened to, it was always just mum and the radio but in later years the artist I really clicked with was Juice Wrld. He was my inspiration to make music, but I also would say music from the 90s and early 2000s, between hip hop and culture music.
What was the first album you remember owning?
Goodbye and good riddance.
What is the one song you wished you could have written yourself?
Lean wit me.
Who are your favourite artists you have found yourself listening to at the moment?
Tory lanez, Juice WRLD, Polo G,
If there was any moment in your career you could relive, what would it be?
My first festival performance with Readipop.
Which artist would you most love to share a stage with?
Most probably Dave, Ski Mask the slump god, singer Hasley.
And is there an artist you would love to collaborate with as well?
The Kid Laroi
What do you find is the most rewarding part about being a musician?
I make music for my own enjoyment and the fact people enjoy my stuff too and want more from me is my top thing. Finding new flows and unlocking things you never could do. The evolution of myself.
And what is the best piece of advice you have received as a musician?
Always be yourself. Do things for yourself not because people tell you to do it. Stay open-minded and be prepared to break out of your comfort zone if this is the type of life you want.
