Gold Star releases timeless new track ‘Baby Face’

Today, Gold Star, AKA Marlon Rabenreither, has released a new song, ‘Baby Face‘.

Baby Face‘ is a chunky rock anthem with a gorgeous nostalgic feel. Marlon’s spacey vocals croon over the track’s timeless sounding ensemble which blends a mixture of drum loops, Wurlitzer, Mellotron strings and more. Listen below.

Speaking about the process of the track, the Los Angeles-based artist explains: “Baby Face” began by stacking two different drum loops on top of each other, after that I started messing around with adding Wurlitzer and the idea for the song started coming together. Once we started cutting the track in the studio, we had Nick Murray (The Growlers, White Fence, Thee Oh Sees) attempt to replicate these samples onto tape. The strings are from a Mellotron, like the samples used on “Strawberry Fields Forever.”

The new track is lifted from Gold Star’s forthcoming new album, Uppers & Downers, which is slated for release on 7th September via Autumn Tone Records.
