Gorillaz put out Humanz earlier this year, and followed it with a media-mashing tour to rapturous fans. One of the most exciting parts of the live show was their airing of a new song featuring London rapper Little Simz, and they would invite the wordsmith onstage to flow with them.
Today the band has officially released the song, titled ‘Garage Palace‘, along with an immersive animated video. As with a lot of the songs on Humanz, the track is more of a showcase for the guest than for Albarn and co., but that is absolutely no problem here as Simz absolutely tears through her flow on ‘Garage Palace‘, taking the song by the throat and claiming it as her own, convincing listeners that she is worthy of the hype around her. Excitingly, for those planning to see Gorillaz on their upcoming tour dates through Europe in November and December, Little Simz will be the support act, so make sure to get there early. And then stay to watch her steal the show when they perform ‘Garage Palace‘ later in the night.
